Stud Grooms

We are seeking stud grooms for both full-time and part-time positions during the stud season, running from March to June. Some weekend work will be necessary. Applicants must have previous equine experience and should have previously worked on a similar yard; experience with mares and foals would be particularly advantageous. To apply, please email your completed application form and CV.

Veterinary Students

As well as having our own team of expert reproductive vets we also work closely with veterinary students to support their learning journey.

We provide resources on a regular basis to Harper Keele Veterinary School and we warmly welcome veterinary students from all veterinary schools to apply for placements with us to gain experience in stud procedures.

We offer an equine reproduction externship program for clinical students and work experience placements, suitable for pre-clinical students.

Equine Reproduction Externship Program

We are inviting applications from veterinary undergraduate students in their 4th or 5th year who have a keen interest in equine reproduction and foal medicine to undertake our equine reproduction externship program. Successful candidates will work alongside our team of resident stud veterinarians, including a diplomate in equine reproduction, throughout the main breeding months.

During the externship, students will gain hands-on experience in a range of clinical activities, including:

  • Management and manipulation of the oestrus cycle

  • Artificial insemination and embryo transfer using fresh, chilled, and frozen embryos

  • Neonatal care and foal medicine

  • Management of recipient mares

There are two vacancies available per month, and onsite accommodation is provided.
