Boarding Fee:
£ 7.35 per day at grass (+ VAT)
£ 13.75 per day stabled (+ VAT)
£17.75 per day stabled (+ VAT) when requiring an individual paddock and/or the horsewalker.
+ £1.90 per day in either case for mares with foal at foot (+ VAT)
Long term boarders & over winter rates available on application

Fresh Semen Collection Fee:
£65 per collection (+ VAT). Invoiced on behalf of Stallion AI Services Ltd for mares being inseminated with fresh semen only

In Foal Fee:
£160 (+ VAT). For all mares leaving the stud scanned in foal to ET, fresh, chilled or frozen semen. This fee includes insemination costs and all the handling associated with the veterinary work. If a mare leaves before being scanned it will be assumed that she is in foal and the fee is payable before she leaves the stud. If subsequently she is found to be not in foal before October 1st and this is confirmed by a vet's certificate, the £140 will be returned.
All in foal mares need to have a 28/30 day and 42 day PD scan to confirm a single viable and healthy pregnancy; if mares leave the stud before the heart beat scan it is the owner's responsibility to arrange for this to be carried out.

Foaling Fee:
£235 (+ VAT) (Mares must be booked in well in advance)

Veterinary Fees & Contract

All expenses incurred for visits, examinations and medicines will be payable by the owner to Twemlows Hall Stud Farm for all reproductive work and other work carried out by the Studs resident vet, or directly to Fyrnwy Equine Clinics for other non reproductive work carried out by them.

Veterinary Contract:
Mares will be accepted at an 'all in package' to cover routine veterinary work at Twemlows Hall Stud Farm connected with reproduction. Routine includes scans, call out, drugs and one PD scan at 16 days, a second scan at 28/30 days and a third scan at about 42 days; it does not include swabs, twinning, caslicks, lavage etc and the treatment of mares with endometritis and other non routine matters.

Veterinary Contract Fees:

AI Fresh & Chilled Semen: Donor mares: £170 (+ VAT) per AI cycle

AI Frozen Semen: Donor mares: £240 (+ VAT) per AI cycle.
Deep uterine insemination for frozen semen included as standard

Synchronisation of Recipient mares: £110 (+ VAT) per mare per AI cycle
(minimum two recipients per donor) Recipients may be maiden or barren mares.

Embryo flush & search: £200 (+ VAT) per flush

Non-surgical transfer to recipient mare: £110 (+ VAT) per transfer

Embryo Freezing: Price on application

ET Recipient Loan Mare Hire: £1250 (+ VAT) for 18 months (or until foal is weaned)

Charges for a range of miscellaneous items, which will not apply to all mares, are available on request.

Mares and foals whilst at the Insemination Centre receive every possible care, attention and supervision. Veterinary assistance is called in when deemed necessary and is chargeable to the owner.

Mare owners who send a third party to collect their mare must make arrangements to pay in advance of collection.

TWEMLOWS HALL STUD FARM MARE AI CENTRE ('THE STUD')

1. Artificial Insemination (AI) & Embryo Transfer (ET): Mares are taken at livery for AI/ET with fresh, chilled or frozen semen, including semen that has been sent from other studs or from overseas. The best arrival time for mares is just before they are due to come in season and their follicular development will then be constantly monitored to obtain the optimum timing for insemination. It is Stud policy to scan all mares.

2. Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA): All mares are required to be blood tested for EVA within the 28 days before arrival at Stud.

3. Strangles (Streptococcus Equi): All mares are required to be blood tested for Strangles within the 28 days before arrival at Stud. (Blood test should be sent to the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket). This new blood test was introduced from the 1st March 2008. (Animal Health Trust website link: www.aht.org.uk/bact_blood.html ).

4. Equine Influenza/Tetanus & Herpes: It is highly recommended that all mares have an up to date flu/tet vaccination certificate, and it is also recommended all pregnant mares should be Herpes vaccinated. (In 2010 all mares coming to the stud for foaling will be required to be herpes vaccinated).

5. Mare Booking Form: All owners/agents are required to fill in and sign the mare booking form when they bring the mare to stud. If the mare is sent with a third party the form must be completed and signed before the mare arrives.

6. Mare Passports/Identification/Blood Results: It is a legal requirement that mares are accompanied to the stud with their passport. A copy of the two blood test results (see item 2 & 3 above) is also required at the time or prior to the mare's arrival.

7. Payment: All fees must be paid before the mare leaves the stud. We reserve the right to charge a deposit at the time of the mare's arrival which will be deducted off the mare's final invoice. Usually invoices will be raised on a calendar month basis and must be settled by the 15th of the following month unless the mare leaves prior to that date, in which case payment must be made prior to departure. "Fees" includes livery, veterinary work and other costs but not stallion fees. Mare owners who send a third party to collect their mare must make arrangements to pay in advance of collection. VAT is charged on all accounts. Payment may be made in cash or debit or credit card or by a cleared cheque. In the case of credit cards a 2% charge will be added to the account. Mares will not be allowed to leave before payment is made in full. Interest will be charged on outstanding amounts from the due date until the actual date of payment (as well as before judgement) at a rate of 4% per annum over base rate of Nat West Bank plc from time to time in force which shall accrue on a daily basis.

8. Legal title to any embryo or foal resulting from an insemination or embryo transfer undertaken by Twemlows Hall Stud Farm shall remain the sole property of R L Matson & Son unless and until all outstanding fees (together with interest if applicable) have been paid in full and cleared through the R L Matson & Son bank account.

9. Stallion Stud Fees: The mare owner to pay the Stallion owner prior to the mare being artificially inseminated.

10. Hind Shoes & Farrier: Please make sure all mares arrive at stud without hind shoes (an exception may be made for mares being housed individually at the appropriate rate). Mares and foals will have their feet trimmed when necessary and any costs charged to the owners's account. Any specific shoeing requirements must be notified to the Stud when the mare is booked in.

11. Worming: Mares and foals will be wormed regularly and the owners charged accordingly.

12. Veterinary: Assistance will be called in when deemed necessary by the Stud and all costs will be chargeable to the owner. All vaccinations and blood tests carried out by the Stud are chargeable to the owners.

13. Insurance: The Stud accepts no responsibility for visiting mares and foals and does not carry insurance cover; it is the owner's responsibility to provide their own insurance cover.

14. Mares and foals whilst at Twemlows Hall Stud Farm will receive every possible care, attention and supervision, but the Stud accepts no responsibility whatsoever for accident, theft or disease, nor does the Stud give any express or implied guarantee of success.

15. All mares are AI / ET/ foaled at their owner's risk and the Stud is not to be liable for any damages or compensation in respect of any injury or damage howsoever caused to any mare/foal, including (but not limited to) that caused through artificial insemination / ET/ foaling.

16. Owners must accept that while their horse is at Twemlows Hall Stud Farm it is at their risk - no responsibility for the mare and foal can be accepted by the Stud and all liability claims, damages, costs, loss and expense of any kind whatsoever are hereby expressly excluded.

17. The Stud is not responsible for semen supplied which is: incorrectly labelled, arrives with incorrect paper work and in an unsuitable condition upon arrival. Similarly the Stud is not responsible for the failure of semen to arrive on time.

18. Frozen semen stored at the Stud on behalf of stallion and mare owners is done so at their own risk and they are responsible for insurance of the semen. We reserve the right to charge for the storage of any frozen semen if it is held over from one stud season to the next.

19. The Stud reserves the right to refuse entry to the stud to any mare or foal in the event that any of these conditions are not complied with or where they consider that mare or foal to be an unacceptable health and safety risk.
